Athletic Therapists specialize in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries (muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons). We rehabilitate chronic and acute injuries obtained from: sports, recreation and industrial or work related activities. Athletic Therapists are highly skilled in manual and exercise therapy. We look at the body as a whole and treat the cause of the injury. This approach results in a faster return to activity and a decreased chance of re-injury.
Outside the clinic, Athletic Therapists are known for their on-field/ice/court emergency care: athletic taping and wrapping, quick side-line assessments, side-line mini treatments, first aid/first responder and safe return to play decisions.
A Certified Canadian Athletic Therapists can be recognized by the credential CAT(C).
